Who we are

Hi, we're Damo and Vicki!
Coming from a background in outdoor education and adventure tourism, our love of nature is a big part of who we are. Our journey growing food started with volunteering on organic farms and our blossoming obsession saw us establishing sprawling gardens at each rental property we called home.
Over the years our growing passion for sustainability led us to connect the dots between the environmental issues that concerned us and the opportunities for positive change presented by regenerative and community-scale agriculture. Clifftop Harvest brings together our passion for growing, our excitement for environmental solutions and our love for the Blue Mountains community.
How we grow

We're passionate about employing practices on our two small vegetable plots in Katoomba that benefit both our immediate local environment and consider wider issues including climate change.
Minimal soil disturbance. We limit tillage and encourage plant cover to keep our soil life thriving.
Polyculture and diversity. We cultivate a wide range of vegetables that are rotated through beds and use flowers to encourage beneficial insects.
Natural fertility. Instead of synthetic fertilisers, we employ compost and the power of living plants to feed our soil.
Gentle solutions. We work with nature to manage pests and only use organic approved pest controls.
Urban farming. Our work is done without a tractor, with simple equipment and on a very small scale.
Circular economy. We transform our waste into compost and strive to use second-hand tools and salvaged materials wherever possible.
Continual learning. We are always learning more and employing new techniques and are committed to continuous improvement.
Local food. Our vegetables are grown right here in Katoomba, and by only harvesting what you order we minimise food waste.
It takes a community

We are grateful to be living in a local community that cares deeply about the natural environment and is excited by local food! We are lucky to be a part of and supported by the growing movement of urban and regenerative farming in the blue mountains and beyond. And we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for support from our friends new and old who have helped us access growing space, got their hands dirty at the plot and encouraged our vision.

Volunteer

Want to get your hands dirty? We're looking for a little help in our garden. This is a great opportunity for people who have an interest in vegetable growing or who would just love pottering in the sunshine. In exchange, we'll send you home with fresh veggies. Tasks that we need the most help with are harvesting and preparing our veggie beds for seed sowing. If you're interested, please send us an email!
